A show with a special guest appearance from Pete who is a regular adviser, informant and listener to the show. Pete always brings the unexpected. There were jazz-pop connections: Bruce Hornsby who Pete informed us has a jazz trio, a jazz version of what was always a jazzy pop tune (Riders on the Storm) and the band Lifetime with Jack Bruce on bass. Brenda Boykin was a new name to us a singer coming from the blues, definitely one to look out for.
Italian jazz got a look-in as the pace hotted up towards the end and it was nice to hear a Bill le Sage track, a British pianist and vibes player who Derek saw many time at the everlasting jazz venue The Bull’s Head at Barnes Bridge.
